Powderpuff Game Kicks Off Homecoming Week

Monday night, the 40th Annual Powderpuff Football game took place to kick off Sault High’s Homecoming Week. A fundraiser for the school’s Business Professionals of America program, the junior girls took on the senior girls in an intense flag football game. The teams were coached by varsity football players.

The first quarter was a defensive battle, with flags being pulled left and right, with neither team making the scoreboard. In the second quarter, senior Izzy DeWildt scored the first touchdown of the game with a quarterback keeper. The two point conversion was not successful. The score remained 6-0 at the end of the first half.

The halftime show was an artistic delight put on by a number of talented dancers, coached by the Sault High Poms captains.

In the third quarter, the juniors got their first touchdown with a 20 yard run by Bella Smith. The score remained tied after a failed two-point conversion attempt. In the last minute of the game, senior Taryn Pratt ran the ball across the goal line to bring the score to 12-6. With 22.4 seconds left, the juniors came close to scoring again, but did not make it.

Seniors win, 12-6.
