Rapid City Man Arrested for Rape of a Minor in 2009

KALKASKA COUNTY, MI. In August 2023, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post was
requested investigate an alleged rape of a minor that occurred in 2009. The victim recently came forward
to make allegations against now 38-year-old Richard Alton Trepanier Jr from Rapid City. The victim
stated the rape occurred at a residence in Kalkaska during the month of December in 2009.
A report was turned over to the Kalkaska County Prosecutor’s Office. An arrest warrant was authorized
on October 24, 2023. Trepanier was arrested later that day by the MSP 7th District Fugitive while at a gas station. He was lodged in the Kalkaska County Jail.

Trepanier was arraigned this week in the 87-B District Court in Kalkaska County for one count Criminal
Sexual Conduct Third Degree (Victim 13-15). He was given a $100,000 10% cash surety bond. His next
scheduled court appearance is on December 4, 2023, at 1:30 p.m.
