SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball program has released its 2024 schedule, as announced by Head Coach Zac Rambo on Friday.
The Lakers will open their 2024 campaign in Pueblo, Colo. for four matches at the Steel City Showcase. They will first take on the host team, Colorado State-Pueblo on Sept. 5 before a doubleheader against Eastern New Mexico and Cal State East Bay the following day. They will then close out their trip to the Rocky Mountains when they face Lubbock Christian on Sept. 7.
The following week, they will travel to Owensboro, Ky. for three more matches in two days. They will first face regional foe UIndy on Sept. 13 before taking on West Alabama later that afternoon. They will then close out the event the next day when they face Christian Brothers University.
The Lakers will then open up Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with their home-opener on Sept. 19 before welcoming the newest members of the league, Roosevelt, to the Soo for the first time. A week later, LSSU will host Grand Valley State and Wayne State on Sept. 27 and 28, respectively, before four straight road bouts.
On Oct. 5, LSSU will travel to Houghton, Mich. to face Upper Peninsula rival Michigan Tech, and they will then take on Northern Michigan the following day in Marquette. The Lakers will then head downstate for battles against Davenport and Ferris State on Oct. 11 and 12, respectively.
The Lakers will then head to the annual Midwest Regional Crossover in Hammond, Ind. for three matches from Oct. 18-19.
LSSU will then return to Bud Cooper Gymnasium to face Wisconsin-Parkside and Purdue Northwest on Oct. 25 and 26 before another four-consecutive road games. The Lakers will open their road trip with a Halloween bout at Saginaw Valley State before heading to the Windy City to face Roosevelt on Nov. 2. They will then battle Wayne State and Grand Valley State the following weekend.
LSSU wraps up the regular season with a pair of home games against their U.P. rivals, first hosting the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Nov. 15 before closing out the regular season against the Michigan Tech Huskies on Nov. 16
