At approximately 12:05 am on July 7th, troopers from the Negaunee Post were dispatched to County Road 482 near County Road CM in Ely Township for a personal injury crash.
Upon arrival, troopers located a vehicle approximately 30 yards off the roadway fully engulfed in flames. Troopers immediately attempted to extinguish the fire and render aid to any occupants in the vehicle. The vehicle was a white Ford SUV and was located laying on its right side and appeared to have gone through numerous large trees before coming to rest.
The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 17-year-old female from the area, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Troopers were assisted by Ishpeming Twp Fire, UPHS Bell, Rescue 131, and the Marquette City Police.
