The Sault High Blue Devils returned to the trails on Wednesday in East Jordan for their Invitational and Party in the Park. Both varsity teams came in the top three overall, with the Sault taking first and third for the boys in a field of 101 runners. Junior Gabe Litzner won the boys’ race with a time of 15:26.67, and teammate junior Shea Armstrong was close behind, crossing the line third, with a time of 16:22.95. Teammates Evan Huyck (17:48.66), Eli Hills (18:11.72) and Daniel Bowerman (18:14.33) contributed to the team’s total of 55 points, coming in behind Traverse City St Francis 35, and Charlevoix 47. Chase Aldridge (18:36.79) and Adam Brandt (18:48.31) rounded out the boys’ team.
The girls’ team had a third place finish with 93 total points, behind Traverse City St Francis with a very impressive 16 points and Boyne City with 71 points. In a field of 80 runners, the top girl finisher for Sault high was freshman Isabelle McCord, taking 11th with a time of 21:47.02. Sophomore Regan Sporte was not far behind, coming in 13th with a time of 21:50.56. Junior Stephanie Jones (22:35.25), freshman Isabeau Woodard (23:55.93), and junior Elise Proulx (23:57.11) contributed to the team’s score. Junior Eleanor Carey (25:19.84) and sophomore Addyson Labadie (26:39.15) filled the varsity roster.
Next up for both teams is the Charlevoix Mud Run on September 7.
