Cheboygan Man Arrested During Traffic Stop

CHEBOYGAN COUNTY, MI. On October 1, 2024, Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement (SANE), with the assistance of the
Cheboygan City Police Department and Cheboygan County Sheriff Office, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in
Cheboygan County. The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of 70 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside
the vehicle. Jonathon Matthew Carney, a 41-year-old man from Cheboygan, was arrested and lodged in the Cheboygan
County Jail.
Carney was arraigned yesterday in the 89

th District Court in Cheboygan County on one count Possession Controlled
Substance – Delivery Manufacture of Methamphetamine and one count Operating While Intoxicated. He was given a
$75,000 cash surety bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on October 25, 2024.
