Sault Ste. Marie, MI, October 11, 2024 — Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency
(CLMCAA) is excited to kick off Homelessness Awareness Month this November by inviting the
community to come together in support of those experiencing or facing homelessness. The
focus of this year’s initiative is to increase awareness and engagement, with a goal of reaching
200 attendees at the event on November 2nd from 11am – 2pm at Avery Square.
Unlike traditional fundraisers, this event is not centered around raising a set amount of money
but rather on feeding those in need and raising awareness. While there is a suggested donation
of $8.00 per person, all are welcome to join regardless of their ability to pay.
“This year, our goal is to bring as many community members together as possible to raise
awareness about homelessness,” said Bridget Akre, HARA Housing Resource Specialist at
CLMCAA. “It’s not just about donations, but about showing solidarity with those in need.”
Attendees will have the option to make donations during the event via cash or a convenient QR
code connected to CLMCAA’s secure PayPal Giving Fund portal. Donations are welcomed but
not required to participate.
How You Can Get Involved:
- Attend the event and invite others to help us reach our attendance goal
- Make a monetary donation at the event or through our online system
- Donate in-kind items such from our wishlist
“I’m grateful for all the work Community Action staff does to help combat homelessness.
However, they need our help too,” said Barb Rogers, owner at Pistrina Ink and sponsor. “I’m
fortunate to be a part of a community that believes in giving back and helping when you can. If
we all just give a little, we can accomplish big things!”
