The coaches from the Big North Conference met earlier this week to make their selections for the 2024 All-Conference teams. Eight Blue Devils were selected for this honor. Named to the second team for defense were seniors Cale Bell at linebacker and Evan Kennedy at defensive back. Junior Tristan Walcher made second team offense for his work this season at running back.
Senior Sawyer Kuenzer received Special Mention for his contribution on both the offensive and defensive lines.
Honorable Mention was given to senior Calvin Aldrich and junior Marc DeWildt on the offensive line; sophomores Brylon Van Elswyk at quarterback and Sam Kiekhaefer at defensive back.
In other Blue Devils sports news, the remaining sports teams at Sault High officially joined the Big North Conference. Previously, a number of the school’s sports teams were part of the Straits Area Conference which disbanded after the 2023/2024 school year. The Sault will join Alpena, Cadillac, Gaylord, Petoskey and Traverse City schools.
