The Cougars were able to grind their way back to within five, but the Lakers responded with a 14-2 run that was capped off with a three from Drew Hess (Oscoda, Mich.). The Lakers continued to assert themselves, moving quickly in transition for a three from Devin Womack (Ypsilanti, Mich.) before Blake Cassidy (Pellston, Mich.) stole the ball away and quickly passed it ahead to Hess for the hoop and the harm to push the lead to 22. Hess would then drop another three ball in the closing seconds of the half to send the Lakers into the break ahead 45-23.

Kuyper struck first in the second half with a jumper in the paint, but the Lakers responded with a 6-0 scoring spurt of their own. Cassidy would then hit back-to-back corner threes as LSSU continued to keep its foot on the gas, extending their lead to as many as 35 after a fast break layup by Hess, and the Lakers closed out a dominant 88-55 win on their home floor.

Hess led the way offensively with a career-high 20-point performance. Adam Harakow (Edmonton, Alta.) finished the night with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double while also notching 4 steals as well. Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.) also scored in double figures with 11 points of his own while Nino Carter-Smith (Warren, Mich.) recorded a game-high 8 assists.
