Walk With Ease, Free Programming to Get You Moving Safely into Spring

Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) in collaboration with the Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress (UPCAP) is offering a free hybrid version of Walk with Ease.  This series, starting May 1st, 2025, and runs through June 5th, 2025.  This Walk with Ease Hybrid is a self-directed enhanced program where individuals begin and end the six-week program at the same time, utilizing a curriculum from the American Arthritis Foundation.   An MSU Extension leader coordinates program information by sharing the book Walk with Ease with each participant once they complete a participant registration survey, weekly emails with videos links and informational handouts are sent and facilitators are available to answer questions using the online venue Zoom. 

During the six-week program, participants will; Understand the basics about arthritis and the relationship between arthritis, exercise, and easing pain. Exercise safely and comfortably. Use methods to make walking fun. Make a personal walking plan with realistic goals for improved fitness. Learn tips and resources to help them overcome barriers and continue to be physically active. Learn about other programs and resources that can help them maintain their walking and try other physical activities.  During the weekly meeting a quick review of the resources, a chance to share our motivational journeys, and get answers to some of the questions that might arise. Thursdays when you can at 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET on Zoom link will be shared after you register.
