Obituaries

Barbara Ann LaFave, age 89, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on February 4, 2025, at home
surrounded by her family. She was born on July 12, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to William and
Adelaide Hill.

Barbara grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She married Wayne Currie on July 11, 1965, and they
raised three sons and a daughter. Barbara was a loving mother who enjoyed taking care of her
family. Years after Wayne’s death, she married David LaFave.

Barbara was a member of the Red Hats Society and All Nations Assembly of God in Brimley,
Michigan.

Barbara’s passions were knitting and crocheting. She loved watching WWE Wrestling! Barbara
enjoyed reading and playing puzzles on her iPad, especially with her great-grandson, Jaxon.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Clifford Currie of Greenville, South Carolina, Scott Currie of
Sault Ste. Marie, and Douglas (Debbie) Currie of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Kathleen
“KC” (Mark) Peck of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Tara, Samantha, Austin, Skyla and Isla;
great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Everly; and sister, Judith Hill of Milan, Michigan; as well as
many grandchildren and great-children on the LaFave side of the family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Currie and David LaFave; and parents,
William and Adelaide Hill.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Well
Assembly of God, 4867 West Curtis St., Kincheloe, Michigan 49788.
