Obituaries

Betty Ann (Leveille) Vigneaux, age 88, of Rudyard, Michigan, died at home on November 17, 2023. She was born on July 1, 1935, in St. Ignace, Michigan, to Charles and Frances (Class) Leveille.

Betty graduated from LaSalle High School in St. Ignace and attended Ursuline Academy and Ferris State University. She met Paul J. Vigneaux, and they got married on October 13, 1962, at the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace. They settled in Rudyard, where they raised their three children. She retired from the Rudyard Co-op after 26 years.

Betty was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Rudyard and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Betty enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard and in her younger years, ice skating, and skiing.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Darby) McCoy of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Connie (Darwin) Stahl of Dafter, Michigan; son, Michael (Lucynda) Vigneaux of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Chelsea (Chris) Eckerman, Caleb Stahl, Chelsea (Joshua) Graham, and Lindsey McCoy; great-grandchildren, Jasper, Charlie, Max, and Willow; sisters, Barbara Barens of East Towas, Michigan, and Sharon Brown; and sisters-in-law, Marie Backland, AraJean Leveille, and Nel Leveille, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances; husband, Paul; brother, Gerald Leveille, and Lawrence Leveille; sisters, Ursula (Joel) Smith and Theresa (Glen) McDowell; brothers-in-law, Frank Marcus, Louis J. Vigneaux, Gene Backland, Charles Barens; and sisters-in-law, Loretta (Louis) Litzner, Blanche (Alfred) Schlehuber.

Visitation will be on Tuesday November 21, 2023, from 10:00am until 11:00am, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rudyard, MI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, and the burial to follow.
