Obituary For Carol DeWeese
Carol DeWeese, age 91, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan died on October 26, 2024, in Grand
Blanc, Michigan. She was born on December 11, 1932, in St. Ignace, Michigan, to Roman and
Delia (Latondress) Kenz.
Carol grew up in St. Ignace and moved to Sault Ste. Marie in the 1940’s and graduated from
Sault Area High School class of 1950. She met the love of her life Jack DeWesse at the Pullar
Stadium during a hockey game. They married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on May 22, 1954.
Carol worked at Red Owl and Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an operator for several
years before becoming a homemaker.
Carol was on the Ladies Auxiliary for St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and served on the Neighborhood Watch. Carol was described as a very calm gentle person and never got flustered over things. She loved to read, play the piano and do cross word puzzles. She was considered a Yooper cook, but a great baker.
Carol is survived by her son Mike DeWeese (Diana Quist) of Rochester, Washington, bonus daughter,
JoDee Carlson of Central Lake, Michigan; grandchildren; Tyler (Ciata) DeWeese, Amanda (Ben) Klick, Paul DeWeese, and John DeWeese; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carol was proceeded in death by her parents, Roman and Delia Kenz; husband, John DeWeese;
son, Todd DeWeese; sisters; Bettye Studdard and Joanne Young; and brother; Herb Kenz.
Visitation will be held on Monday November 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM till 12:00 Noon at
Family Life Funeral Homes 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Funeral Services will
begin at Noon.
Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan. Cookies, coffee and
tea will be available after the burial back at Family Life Funeral Home, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
