Obituary For Dale Henry McConkey

Dale Henry McConkey, age 89, of Pickford, Michigan, died at Medilodge in Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan, on February 4, 2024. Dale was born on September 3, 1934, in Sault Ste Marie, to
Harry and Anne (Zwolinski) McConkey.

Dale grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford High School in 1953. He bought his first
farm at the age of 16. He was a member of the 46th Infantry Division Michigan National Guard.
Dale married Connie Sweeney on November 26, 1955. He was self-employed in lumbering in his
early years and later worked at the Sault Locks, and most of his life at the Cedarville Limestone
Quarry, retiring in 1996. He retired from farming in 2016.

Dale was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching the games. He enjoyed vacations to
Florida to watch Tigers spring training, bowling, fishing, country music and spending time with
his family. He was a 4-H leader for many years.
Dale was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Barbeau and Our Lady of Snows
Catholic Church of Hessel.

Dale is survived by his wife, Connie of 68 years, his children, Beth McConkey, Bob (April)
McConkey, Brian McConkey all of Pickford and Carol Roe of Menominee, Michigan; sister,
Beverly Nayback of Pickford; brother, Don McConkey of Cedarville, Michigan; he will be
missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Dale was proceeded in death by his parents Harry and Anne McConkey; brother, Raymond
McConkey; and in-laws Richard and Edna Sweeney.

A Memorial Service will be held in the spring, date and time to be announced at a later date.
Dale's final resting place will be Donaldson Cemetery in Bruce Township, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the Pennington House, 665 S.
Pleasant St, Pickford MI, 49774.
