Obituary For Dana Andrew Lofdahl
Dana Andrew Lofdahl, age 65, of Stalwart, Michigan, passed away on August 12, 2024. He was born on November 19, 1958, in St. Ignace, Michigan, to Lawrence and Patricia (Carr) Lofdahl.
Dana grew up in Cedarville, Michigan, where he met the love of his life Kimberly Izzard in the summer of 1976, thanks to his longtime friend Tim Freebury. Dana and Kim married on August 12, 1978, and spent the next 46 years building an amazing life together.
Dana loved his time playing sports and spent many years on the Ted’s Country Store softball team and men’s league basketball teams with lifelong friends. After retiring from playing, he moved onto coaching and coached his kids and their friends in tee-ball, Gus Mackers, elementary and middle school basketball, and eventually settled into Varsity Girls' Basketball. He remembered each kid who played for him and could tell you a fantastic story about each of them.
Dana spent his life as a professional finish carpenter, a trade he learned and honed working with his father over many years. He made great friends throughout those years and was known for his skill and laugh. He has left his mark on many homes throughout the Eastern Upper Peninsula and would proudly tell you while driving by one.
Dana loved music. He loved playing the drums and music trivia. He was a lifelong learner and an avid fan of all things’ history. He loved his dogs, golf, and acting up with his grandkids. One of his favorite things was playing catch and golf in the yard with them. He was known to be the
biggest kid in the mix and one of his favorite sayings was, “Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.”
Dana is survived by his wife Kimberly; children, Brooke (Scott) Maciag, and Tyler (Emily)
Lofdahl; four grandchildren, Cale Maciag, Evan Maciag, Keira Lofdahl, and Reece Lofdahl; father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Margaret Izzard; siblings, Mike Lofdahl, David Lofdahl, and Michelle Otto; brother-in-law, Brent (Mary) Izzard; sister-in-law, Laura (Pam Dingwell) Izzard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Patricia Lofdahl.
A private Memorial Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, in Pickford, Michigan.
