David “Dave” John Bishop, age 69, of Pickford, Michigan, died at home on November 5, 2023. He was born in Carson City, Michigan, on February 11, 1954, to John Charles and Geraldine Marie (Beebee) Bishop.

Dave graduated from St. John’s High School with the class of 1972. After graduating, he drove his truck, hauling livestock and farmed. His family moved to Pickford in 1976, where he continued farming and transporting. In 1977, he met Jane Kronemeyer, and they started dating in 1978, marrying on June 2, 1979. When he moved to the EUP, he started with 80 acres of land and ended with 1600 acres.

Dave was a member of the State FFA in high school, was a board member of the United Producers Association for more than six years, board member for the Farm Service Agency for five years in the 1980’s, and he received an award from the Michigan Sheep Producers Association for his commercial sheep flock in 2005.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman. He loved rifle hunting with dogs, hunting deer and coyotes. He also enjoyed going to livestock auctions.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, John “JD” David (Erika) Bishop and Jesse Robert (Shelli) Bishop; daughters, Amanda Jane (Luke) Munger, Ashley Marie (Matt) Bailey, and Judith “Judy” Ann (Paul) Holmes; and grandchildren, Luke Munger, Isabella Bishop, Mark Munger, Madison Bishop, Jaylin Bishop, Channing Bishop, Charlie Bishop, Taylor Bishop, David Bailey, and Andrea Bailey.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geraldine; and father-in-law, John Kronemeyer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Galer Funeral Homes in Pickford, Michigan. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM.

Final Resting Place will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Pickford, Michigan.
