Obituaries

Dolores Eleanore (Barney) Mayes, age 91, of Pickford, Michigan, died at McLaren Northern
Michigan in Petoskey, Michigan, on February 3, 2024. She was born on July 13, 1932, in
Detroit, Michigan, to John B. and Lottie N. (Klonowski) Barney.

Dolores was born and raised in Detroit. She quit school after 10 th grade to help her family run
their floral shop before taking over the business. She met Norbert Mayes, and they married on
July 17, 1948, in Detroit.

Dolores was a very generous and giving person. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to family
gatherings, and playing cards, especially Poker.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ron) McMurray of Beverly Hills, Florida, and
Laura Zambron of Pickford; grandchildren, Jerry (Amy) Kleckner, Steve (Magan) Zambron, and
Amanda (Jeremy) Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Miranda D., Darian Zambron, Keira Zambron,
Kiley Zambron, Donavin Zambron, Autumn Berkland, Kimber Vaughn, and Jayson Vaughn;
sister, Patricia (Tony) Garland of New Hampshire; and family friend, Terry Berkland.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert; parents, John, and Lottie; son-in-law,
Donald Zambron; and stepfather, Casimer “Cass” Szymanski.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20 th from 2:30PM – 4:30PM, at Family Life
Funeral Homes - Pickford, 24549 S. M-129 Pickford, MI 49774. The Funeral Service will begin
at 4:30PM.

Final Resting Place will be at the North Raber Cemetery in Raber, Michigan.
