Edwin Merle Sherman Sr., age 80, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on April 20, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Long Term Care in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on March 29, 1945, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Edwin and Virginia (Vincent) Sherman.

Edwin spent many years working for General Motors before joining Pickford Napa Auto Parts. A skilled mechanic, he also ran a small engine repair business, which he later moved to the family farm. After relocating to Marine City with his wife Marge, Edwin continued his career at Manter Technology Corporation.

Edwin was married to Marge (McDonald) Sherman, for many cherished years before her passing.

Outside of work, Edwin found great joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and camping, and was always up for a good card game with family.

Edwin is survived by his wife of eleven years, Ethel; children, Edwin Merle Sherman Jr. and Velma Sherman-Hinkley; stepchildren, Lorraine Sweeney, Joan Hansen, Glen Gill, Crystal Halasey, and Christopher Gill; grandchildren, Kimberly, Christopher, Jonathan, and Jennifer Hinkley; sister, Carolyn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edwin was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-five years, Marge; parents, Edwin and Virginia; siblings, Alice, Mary, and Henry; and son-in-law, Andrew Hinkley.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan with the Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 PM.
