Obituary For Floyd Reno

Floyd Reno, age 86, of Hessel, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at MyMichigan Health Center Sault in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born in Afton, Michigan, on April 23, 1937, to Archie and Luella (Knight) Reno.

Floyd was a graduate of Indian River High School. He met Nancy Jane Knoy when they both worked on Mackinac Island, Michigan, and they were married on May 31, 1958. Floyd and Nancy made their home in Sault Ste. Marie where they raised their three kids. Floyd retired from Lake Superior State University, where he worked in the maintenance department for 35 years.

Floyd was a member of the North Raber Baptist Church.

Floyd enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and reading. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his little dachshund, Emmie. Floyd and Nancy were a fixture at Cedarville High School sports, rarely missing a local basketball game. He will be missed by many.

Floyd is survived by sons, Archie (Kathy) Reno, and Floyd Reno, both of Hessel; daughter, Ruth (Boe) Gerou, of Rapid River, Michigan; sisters, Elaine Avery of Derby, Kansas, Janet (Barry) LeDuc of Cheboygan, Michigan and Teresa Whitmore of Lemar, Iowa; sister-in-law Vera Harrison; brother-in-law John “Bill” Knoy, both of Huntsville, Texas; grandchildren, Kacie (Ben) Cartwright, Elizabeth Reno, Marcelle Reno, Alexander Reno, Sam (Jeremiah) Wortz and Gerald (Beth) Burrell; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Trenton, Natallie, Analicia, Dilynne, Sullivan, Jairyd, Elijah, Isabella, and Liam; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Nancy Reno; parents, Archie and Luella; stepfather, Leonard Walters; brothers Archie Reno and Roger Walters; sisters, Lois (Bud) Ormsbee, Reta (Fulford) Lapeer, Henrietta (Jim) Crawford; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Avery, Ray Whitmore, and Gene Harrison.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the North Raber Baptist Church, 25205 S Raber Rd, Goetzville, MI, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
