Obituary For Francis Elgin Nixon

Francis “Frank” Elgin Nixon, age 81, of Pickford, Michigan, died on January 21, 2025, at the
Pennington Home in Pickford. He was born on May 6, 1943, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to
Mervin and Pearl (McConkey) Nixon.

Frank grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford High School with the Class of 1961. He
started butchering for local farmers as a hobby and ended up doing it the majority of his life. He
worked at the Pickford Meat Plant with family, then logged with Barney Nettleton and Dave
Lamb. In 1971, he started working at the Limestone Quarry in Cedarville, Michigan, where he
worked until his retirement in 2008.
Frank was a member of the Pickford Global Methodist Church.

He enjoyed farming, being in the barn where he had cows and horses. He liked to hunt and loved
to visit with his fellow farmers and friends! Frank always enjoyed telling stories and making
folks smile.

Frank is survived by his wife, Judy (Lockhart) Nixon; son, Richard (Cindy) Nixon; daughter,
Lori Nixon; son, Randy Nixon; grandchildren, Derick (Courtney) Campbell, James Nixon, Sierra
Nixon, Shania Nixon, Neil Nixon, Erin Ellis-Parr and Brock Nixon; great-grandchildren, Owen,
Chloe, Maryn, Cole, Kinleigh, Kannon, Axel and Brant; and brothers-in-law, Jim (Nancy)
Lockhart and Bill (Ginny) Lockhart.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Mervin and Janice Lockhart; sister and
brother-in-law, Barb (Bert) McKiddie; sister, Phyllis Nixon; and niece, Shelly Lockhart.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Family
Life Funeral Homes, 24549 S. M-129 Pickford, MI 49774. The Funeral Service will begin at
1:00 PM.

Frank’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Frank’s memory to the Pickford Global Methodist
Church, 115 E. Church St. Pickford, MI 49774.
