Obituary For Harry McPherson Parker, Jr
Harry McPherson Parker Jr., age 90, of Brimley, Michigan, died on February 29, 2024, at his home in Brimley with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 12, 1934, in Smithville, West Virginia, to Harry and Martha (Aldridge) Parker.
Harry grew up in West Virginia until his family relocated to Monroe, Michigan, where he graduated from high school. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force. At the end of his enlistment, he met his future wife, Armella LeBlanc. They married on August 17, 1957 in Bay Mills, Michigan. They made their home in Westland, Michigan, where they raised three of their four children. In 1972, Harry moved his family back to Bay Mills, as he had promised his wife. In 1975, they had their fourth child. Over the course of his lifetime, Harry had worked bookkeeper, laborer at Trilex Corporation, supervisor of a tube mill at Cannelton, and most recently as a casino security guard until his retirement.
Harry was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church.
Harry enjoyed bowling and fast-pitch softball. When he was able, it was common to find him going for a walk and saying his Rosary. Harry loved Jesus and his family very much.
Harry is survived by sons, Jeffery (Judy) Parker of Gaylord, Michigan, and Gregory Parker of Brimley; daughters, Phyllis (Tim) Kinney of Brimley, Cindy (Ruth) Parker of Brimley; grandchildren, Kimmi (Tim) Walden, Jason (Andrea) Parker, Timothy (Brenda) Kinney, Natalie Barnes; great-grandchildren, Jazlyn Walden Parker, Daisy Walden, Paula Ann Walden, Albert Walden III, Kalen Parker, Evan Parker, Quinn Parker, Morgan Barnes, Logan Barnes, Hannah Barnes, Timothy Kinney III, Andrew Olson; and great-great grandchild, Jasper Fox.
Preceded in death by wife, Armella Parker; parents, Harry and Martha Parker; brothers, Virgil, Orval, James, Charles, Harry, and Denver: sisters, Eva, Basilla, Lucille McKenzie, Mildred Collins, who was his twin; great-grandchild, Gregory Kinney.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 6769 M-221, Brimley, Michigan 49715. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM
The final resting place is at Mission Hill Cemetery in Brimley.
