Obituary For John Francis Mullen

John Francis Mullen, age 69, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died at Medilodge in the Sault on May 27, 2024. He was born on July 10, 1954, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to John (Bob) Robert Mullen and Theresa (Tremblay) Mullen.

John attended Loretto Catholic High School. After graduation, he worked as a maritime worker on the Great Lakes for over a decade and later in the maintenance department at LSSU, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.

John's legacy lives on through his beloved son, Michael Mullen, who was his pride and joy and so proud of. John is also survived by his mother, Theresa Mullen of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and siblings Brian and Daniel Mullen of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; Irene (Jim) Reischel, of Bloomer, Wisconsin; Marie (Randy) Scoggins, of Mount Dora, Florida; Catherine (Michael -Mick) Maleport, of Dafter, Michigan; Dolores (Larry) Hall of Orlando, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

John was a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. His love and commitment to his family will be sorely missed.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Robert (Bob) Mullen, his brother, Paul Patrick Mullen, and nephew, Elijah Mullen.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church, 606 E. 4th Ave., Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a Graveside Service at Hill Crest Cemetery in Raco, Michigan, with Father Brad officiating.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nurses and staff at Medilodge of Sault Ste. Marie, MyMichigan Hospital of Sault Ste. Marie and Hospice. Their unwavering commitment, skill, and professionalism in handling the challenges and difficult situations that arose daily were truly commendable. Their actions spoke volumes about their intellect, work ethic, and commitment to excellence and the family is deeply appreciative of their efforts.
