John Leonard Strong, age 69, of Rudyard, Michigan, died on May 7, 2024, at McLaren Northern Michigan, in Petoskey, Michigan, after a battle with cancer. John was born on December 15, 1954, in St. Ignace, Michigan to John and Alene (Lutat) Strong.

John Grew up in Rudyard and graduated from Rudyard High School with the class of 1974. John worked many odd jobs until the 1980’s, when he started working in the maintenance department at Soo Plastics. John met Donna Stephens through a family member, and they married on August 12, 1988, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

John enjoyed fishing, star gazing, bird watching, and watching TV- his favorite shows being Grimm and CSI. He was an avid marble collector and loved spending time with his wife, Donna, and dog, Cooper.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna; son, John (Chelsea) Strong; daughter, Nicole (Chris) Strong; mother, Alene; sisters, Mary Turner, and Sandy Strong; brothers, Tim (Sharlene) Strong, Bart Strong, and Barry Strong; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father, John; and sisters, Sharon Olmstead, and Theresa Mattson.

Per John’s wishes, there will be no services.
