John Raymond Gervais, age 69, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on March 8, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Sault. He was born on May 8, 1954, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Raymond and Dorothy (Andress) Gervais.

John was the most caring person you have ever met. The love he had for his wife Sandy, and his four children (Emmy, Shondra, Jason, and Jenine) and all his brothers and sisters was like nothing you have ever seen, but the love for his grandchildren was even more.

John established and operated the Mid Jim Convenience Store and managed it for sixteen years. He also opened Admiral Convenience Store, where he retired.

John loved hunting with his brothers, and brothers-in-law, but most of all his son, Jason. He also enjoyed building things, watching and playing hockey, and going boating. There was nothing John couldn’t build or fix. We often called him “Mr. Fix It.” On the weekends you would often find him at one of his kids’ sporting events.

John is survived by his wife, Sandy Gervais; children, Emmy (Dave) Deuman, Shondra (Eric Maleport) Gervais, Jason (Tracy) Gervais, Jenine (Auggie) Brown; mother, Dorothy (Andress) Gervais; sisters, Janis Wilson, Jonelle (Harry) Killips, Jinny (Tim) Gillett, Jolynda Brown, Judy Girard; brothers, Jerry (Pam) Gervais, Joel (Diane) Gervais; grandchildren, Amila, Jacob, Jenna, Christan, Jory, Audrey, Sabella, Joslyn, and Jackson; great-granddaughter, Paisley Saunders.

John was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Gervais; brothers-in-law, Kelly Girard, and Dale Wilson.

Visitations will be held on March 15, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at the Niigaanagiizhik Ceremonial Building, 11 Ice Circle, Sault Ste. Marie, Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, a memorial luncheon will follow after service.

Final resting place will be at the Oaklawn Chapel Garden, Bruce Township, Michigan
