Obituary For Judith Ann Nixon
Judith “Judy” Ann Nixon, age 78, of Pickford, Michigan, died on February 18, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. She was born on February 28, 1946, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Mervin George and Janice Vivian (Batho) Lockhart.
Judy grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank Nixon, on October 19, 1963, at the Pickford Methodist Church. They settled in town where they started their family. Judy began working at a young age at M & G Café and then Huyck’s Poultry Farm. She spent most of her career at the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store, in Pickford. She went on to work at Riverside Medical for a short while, also for the Pickford Township Offices, and the local gas station before retiring. When their children were raised, they built a new home on the family farm.
Judy was a member of the Pickford Global Methodist Church.
Judy enjoyed breeding Golden Retrievers, bringing many families a lot of Golden love for many years. She also loved sewing, quilting, traveling, and flower gardening in her free time. She volunteered as a cheerleading coach, 4H leader, and a brownies / girl scout leader. Judy was one to help anyone when needed and always had the most radiant smile that lit up a room while doing so.
Judy is survived by her sons, Richard (Cindy) Nixon of Houghton, Michigan, Randy Nixon of Pickford, Michigan; daughter, Lori Nixon of Pickford; grandchildren, Derick (Courtney) Campbell, James Nixon, Sierra Nixon, Shania Nixon, Neil Nixon, Erin Ellis-Parr, and Brock Nixon; great-grandchildren, Owen, Chloe, Maryn, Cole, Kinleigh, Kannon, Axel, and Brant; brothers, Jim (Nancy) Lockhart of Pickford, and Bill (Ginny) Lockhart of Sault Ste. Marie.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents, Mervin and Janice; parents-in-law, Mervin and Pearl Nixon; sister and brother-in-law, Barb (Bert) McKiddie; and niece, Shelly Lockhart.
A memorial gathering will be held at Family Life Funeral Homes, 24549 S. M-129 Pickford, MI 49774 on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM.
Judith’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
