Judith Lynn (Sorenson) Ryerse, age 80, of St. Ignace, Michigan, died on November 27, 2024, at the Straits Area Assisted Living Center in St. Ignace. She was born on January 11, 1944, in Edmore, Michigan, to Neil Stanley and Esther Wanda (Novenske) Sorenson.

Judith grew up in St. Ignace and graduated from LaSalle High School. After graduation, she attended Davenport University for one year studying business. She moved around and finally settled back in St. Ignace where she went to work at Brown & Brown Law Office off and on for ten years. In 1981 Judith went to work for Mackinac County as a probate register until her retirement in 2009.

Judith was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Ignace where she was also a member of their woman’s group, choir, and Sunday school. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and JC Auxiliary.
Judith enjoyed crafting, knitting, counter cross stitch, and reading.

Judith is survived by her daughter, Amber (Dustin) Anderson; son, James Ryerse; grandchildren,
Cooper James Johnston and Bailey Gail Ryerse; brother, Gary (Monica) Sorenson; sister, Susan
Fenlon; and brother, Steven (Carol) Sorenson.

Judith was preceded in death by parents, Neil and Esther; sisters, Cathy Jean Sorenson and Linda
(Michael) Wilkins; and brother-in-law, Jerry Fenlon.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Family Life Funeral Homes, 999 S. State St. St. Ignace, MI 49781. The time will be announced at a later date.

Final resting place is Lakeside Cemetery in St. Ignace Township.
