Obituaries

Karen Jean Huffman, age 65, died at her home in Hessel, Michigan, on July 13, 2024. She was born on October 23, 1958, in St. Ignace, Michigan, to Donald Charles and Evelyn Marie (Dupon) Huffman.

Karen grew up in Hessel, but lived in other places, such as North Carolina, Florida, Germany and Arizona. She eventually made her way back to Hessel to settle. In recent years, she worked at Cedar Cove Assisted Living where she was able to help care for others. Karen was a kind, loving person and touched the lives of many. She loved her children and grandchildren and spoke of them often.

Karen was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Karen enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her cats. She enjoyed fixing up her childhood home, gardening and baking pies with the apples from her apple tree. She loved shopping and sitting on the porch talking and drinking coffee with her best friend, Kim. Karen enjoyed walking on the beach and watching Animal Planet with her significant other, Todd.

Karen is survived by her significant other, Todd Beatty; children, Angela M. Dunn of Phoenix, Arizona, and Bryan M. Sayers of Concrete, Washington; grandchildren, Katelynn E. Novak of El Mirage, Arizona, Isabella A. Waldram of Phoenix, Michael D. Waldram Jr., of Phoenix, Troy M. Sayers of Phoenix, and Brayden Denton of Port Orchard, Washington; siblings, Darrel Huffman of Hessel, and Norman Davis Jr. of Baxter, Tennessee.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter, Kami D. Dunn; father, Donald C. Huffman; mother, Evelyn M. Davis and brother, Donald C. Huffman Jr.

Per Karen’s wishes, there will be no services.

Final Resting place will be at Fenlon Cemetery in Clark Township, Michigan.
