Obituary For Lewis "Lew" Richard LaCrosse
Lewis “Lew” Richard LaCrosse, age 80, died on December 1, 2024, unexpectedly at his home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on October 16, 1944, to Lewis and Anita (Kuglin) LaCrosse.
Lew joined the United States Navy after graduating from Sault Area High School and enjoyed traveling and seeing different places, especially on the west coast. Lew fought in the Vietnam War and enjoyed telling stories about it to his grandchildren. Lew started his long career in corrections where he met so many friends along the way. He retired in 2003, to be able to enjoy his life at home with his family. Fighting a long hard battle with cancer and beating it in 2003, Lew lived a long life he was grateful for. Lew seen so many things and met so many people along the way it made him the great and caring man he was. Lew had a personality you couldn’t help but to be drawn to, he made an impact on so many lives. He was the man that would help even if he didn’t have it himself.
Lew is survived by his son, Christopher (Ryane) LaCrosse; daughter, Mona (Tim) Staggs; grandchildren, Shelby Kay, Gage LaCrosse, Brandon LaCrosse, Michelle Staggs; three great-grandchildren; brother Randy (Nancy) LaCrosse; sister, Luanne (Gene) Dluzniewski; mother of his children, Christina LaCrosse; and best friend, Joann Joss.
Lew was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Anita; and brother, Duane LaCrosse.
Per Lew’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
