Marc Alan Nelson, age 54, of DeTour, Michigan, died on October 29, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1969, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Harold & Celene (Mattson) Nelson.

Marc lived in Sault Ste. Marie until the age of two when his family moved to DeTour where he lived the rest of his life. He graduated with the DeTour Class of 1987, and following graduation, he went to work for the DeTour Building Center for the next seventeen years. He then worked for Fountain Trucking for the next five years, and most recently with the Chippewa County Road Commission out of Goetzville since May 2019.

Marc loved to hunt with his beagles. He enjoyed all sports, especially NASCAR, and you could always find him at a Soo Eagles home game showing his support when Denver Pierce and Kyle Loridon were playing on the team.

Marc is survived by his daughter, Macy Nelson of Michigan; brothers, Eric (Bobbi) Nelson, of California, and Darrel Nelson of Michigan; sister, Esther (John) Bertram of Michigan, brother, Michael Ferguson of Michigan; stepmother, Joanne Nelson, of Michigan; nephews, Justin (Ashley) Bertram and Aaron Bertram, and niece, Melanie (Kris) Murtha.

Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Celene.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at the DeTour Union Presbyterian Church. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 4:00 P.M.

The final resting place will be Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
