Obituaries

Mary Anne (Bridge) Sanders, age 73, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed away peacefully at
MyMichigan Health in Sault Ste. Marie on November 30, 2023, surrounded by family and
friends. She was born on October 15, 1950, in Tampa, Florida, to Stanley and Frances
(Husband) Bridge.

Mary Anne grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault High School with the Class of
1968. She began her family and raised two beautiful daughters. She worked many years at Big
Wheel Department Store. She loved her Big Wheel family! When Big Wheel closed, she started
her career in bookkeeping for a construction company. She was a hard worker, working several
jobs at a time.

Mary Anne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary Anne loved crafting for all holidays. She enjoyed playing computer games with her friends
(some might even say she had the gift to gab!). One of her favorite hobbies was baking, and
decorating cakes.

Mary Anne is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hawker of Sault Ste. Marie, and Shari
(Marcel) Anderson of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Abby and Cole Hawker, and
Mason and Marissa Anderson; brother, Stanley “Frank” (Anne) Bridge or Azle, Texas; sisters,
Debora (Don) Moyer of Jackson, Michigan, and Lynda Wilson of Colonial Heights, Virginia;
longtime friends, Cordy Beseau and Steve Perron; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Frances.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 5, 2023, from 3:00-5:30 at 313 on Ashmun
Street. A brief service will be held at 5:30 with a reception to follow.

Come and share your memories of Mary Anne with us! She had a wonderful sense of humor and
loved to laugh.

The family would like to thank Thilak Chander, M.D. for his years of patience and excellent
care, as well as the ICU staff at MyMichigan Health for their compassion care during her
transition. We could also like to thank Shar from Community Action, her friend and weekly in
home assistant. She always looked forward to her visits.

The final resting place will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
