Mary Ellen (Brooks) McCann, age 87, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died at the Hospice House of the EUP on November 5, 2023. She was born on November 2, 1936, in Sault Ste. Marie to Margaret Mae (McCloud) Brooks and raised by William and Goldie (Cook) Brooks.

Mary grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated with the class of 1955. She moved to south Florida, in 1956, where she met Mike McCann, they were life partners and married in April 2010, just before Mikes’s death. While Mike worked as a chauffeur, and she worked as a high-class bartender. In 1995, she finally retired and became Mike’s caregiver when he became ill. She returned to Sault Ste. Marie in 2017, where she enjoyed the rest of her retirement.

Mary was an avid Fox News watcher and loved going to the casino and traveling.

Mary is survived by her niece, Glenda Guerra of Sault Ste. Marie; sisters, Rose (Joe) Hansgett of Sault Ste. Marie, and Goldie Guillemet of Sault Ste. Marie; and cousin, Mickie Hutton Guerra of Sault Ste. Marie.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret; and brother-in-law, Jerry Cryderman.
