Maureen (Scothon) Manbeck, age 85, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died at the Hospice of the EUP in Sault Ste. Marie on October 7, 2023. She was born on February 16, 1938, in Nottingham, England, to John and Edith Maude (Ellis) Scothon.

Maureen grew up in England and graduated from high school, where she met Cloyd F. Manbeck while he was stationed in England. They married in England before the return to the United States. They started out in Cottage Park, Michigan, where they started their family. Later, they moved to the Air Force Base in Kincheloe, Michigan, before settling in Rudyard, Michigan, purchasing the farm and continuing to raise their children. After Cloyd’s death, in 1995, Maureen sold the farm a year later and moved all over the EUP, before settling in Sault Ste. Marie.

Maureen loved gardening her flowers, solving crossword puzzles, playing games on her iPad, crocheting, and knitting, and teaching her grandchildren to sew and knit.

Maureen is survived by her son, C.J. Manbeck of Pickford, Michigan; daughter, Marie Manbeck of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Joshua Carr; and brother, John Scothon.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith; and husband, Cloyd.
