Obituaries

Norma Lou Viola, age 86, of St. Ignace, Michigan, died on February 28, 2025. She was born on February 7, 1939, in New Salem, Michigan, to Otto and Matilda (Rodenhisler) Homrich.

Norma grew up in New Salem and graduated from Byron Center High School. She worked as a nurses aid for a few years before she started working at Rowe International as an assembler. She did that for years. Norma met and married Robert and they retired together after full careers.

Viola loved getting together with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling, socializing and keeping her home and car clean. Viola was quite the classy lady, was very well put together.

Viola is survived by her nieces, Suzanne McMillan, Judy McMillan, Donna Way, Ella Bluhm, Pat Ackerman, Cindy Pinckney, Jean Dukes, Mary Lou Brummel, Amy Sweeney, Carol Dosenberry, and Connie Wheat; nephews; Mike Homrich, Ron Weber, and Gary Nickels.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Matilda; brothers, Delmar (Stella) Homrich and Ron Homrich; sisters, LaDoris (Arden) Weber and Phyllis (Gerald) Nickels.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 5, 2025, from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm at New Salem Township Hall, 3003 142nd Ave, Burnips, Michigan, 49314.
