Norman Roy Nye, age 76, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Troy, Michigan. He was born on December 26, 1947, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Roy Nye and Jean (Chard) Carr.

Norman grew up in Hessel, Michigan, and graduated from Les Cheneaux High School with the Class of 1966. He met the love of his life, Dolores Easterbrook, and the two were married on July 12, 1968. The pair had two wonderful daughters that they adored. Following High School Norman enlisted and served in the United States Navy until April 30, 1989, when he retired after 20 years. After leaving the military, he went on to spend another 20 years working for the United States Postal Service before retiring from there also.

Norman enjoyed traveling to Key West, Florida, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. You could often find him spending time in nature, and always reporting the wildlife he encountered on his adventures. Walks were a part of his daily routine, whether it be in Key West, Stoney Creek Metropark in, Shelby Township, Michigan, or at the annual Mackinac Bridge walk. He was always walking somewhere!

Norman is survived by his daughters, Geana (Michael) Beattie and Nicole (Kerry) Sementkowski; grandchildren, Taylor Kish, Gregory Kish, Kyle Sementkowski, and Jenna Sementkowski; brother, James (Jim) Nye; sister Amy Bills; and brother, Gary Nye.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores “Dee” Nye; parents, Roy Nye and Jean Carr; sisters, Linda Storey and Cindy Nye; and brothers, Ronald (Dale) Carr and Roger Carr.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday October 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Monday, October 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM, at Family Life Funeral Homes, 24549 S. M-129, Pickford, MI, 49774.
