Paula Mary (Downs) Broten, age 67, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan died on August 10, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Sault. She was born on January 10, 1957, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Edward and Mabel (Stone) Downs.

Paula grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, where she met and married her husband David Broten on July 8, 1977. Together they had three children, Joe (Lindsey) Broten, Amy (Gary) Nolan and Teri (Thomas) Sharp. She is also survived by many adopted children; and sixteen grandchildren,: Dakota Nolan, Taylor (Jayden) Nolan, Jeffrey Sharp, Ashley Pettit, Kylie Broten (Douglas Maclean) Anjeli Latour, Thomas Sharp Jr. (Daysha Jackson), Jade Sharp (Ethan Thompson) Elena Stuart, Elijah Stuart, Ava Stuart, Joey Broten Ryder Broten, Keira Broten, Easten Broten; great-grandchildren, Lily Nolan, Caroline Olsen, Dean Pettit, Izayah Smith, Damon Sharp-Thompson, siblings, Sandra Geatches, Kenny Downs, Phyllis Causley, Dennis (Pansey) Downs, Ron (Karen) Downs; brothers-in-law, Dean Broten, Dale Broten; sister-in-law, Diane (Butch) Blight; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all miss her dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Edward Sr. and Mabel; sisters, Shirley Downs, Beverly (Ron) Logan, Betty (Wayne) Bumgardner, Judy (Bob) Miller, Lorraine Fyke, Margaret (Tom) Horton and twin sister, Carla Downs; brother, Ed (Shirley) Downs, Jr.; in-laws, Donald (Janet) Broten, brothers-in-law, Jerry Causley, and Donald Broten; granddaughter, Anna Stuart; and best friend and cousin, Carol Vos.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM. at the First Free Methodist Church, 505 W 4th Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
