Richard “Dick” “Rick” Lee Parr, age 61, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on December 15,
2023, at Hospice House of the EUP in Sault Ste. Marie. He was born on August 1, 1962, in Sault
Ste. Marie, Michigan to Kenneth and Sharon (Bergstrom) Parr.
Dick grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault High School. He then joined the
United States Navy from 1980-1984 serving his country. He lived in Sault Ste. Marie and
worked as a pipefitter. He retired from this career after many years of hard work. In 2017, Dick
was diagnosed with dementia, and battled this horrendous disease for six years.
Dick enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hunting. He enjoyed the adventurous moose hunting trip to
Alaska with friends. He also enjoyed watching sports, his favorite teams were the Lions and Red
Wings.
Dick is survived by his son, Kyle (April) Champ of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandson, Tristan Champ;
parents, Kenneth and Sharon Parr of Sault Ste. Marie; brother, Roger (Jill) Parr of Sault Ste.
Marie; sister, Lannie (John) Castagne of Barbeau, Michigan.
Dick is preceded in death by his son, Dylan Parr.
