Obituary For Matthew David Lund

Matthew David Lund, 37, of Eau Claire passed away at home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Matt was born on June 13, 1987, to Thomas and Judy Lund in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He graduated from McKinley Charter School in 2007. After finishing high school, he was employed at several businesses including operating heavy machinery at sand mines and more recently working at AJ Manufacturing in Bloomer as a paint booth technician. He was very mechanical and could operate just about anything. Matt was an excellent craftsman with his lathe, creating items such as bowls, pens, pizza cutters, bottle openers, and more. He could fix just about anything and would often help people out with any kind of repairs. Matt loved his motorcycles. He also enjoyed playing hockey in an amateur fun league. Matt enjoyed going up to the cabin to have a good time with his cousin and to do grading on the road with the tractor. Matt was an avid Packer fan.

Matt is survived by his parents, Thomas and Judy Lund of Eau Claire; sisters Amy (Evan) Weisser and his niece Emelia of Menomonie, WI; Aly Lund (Blake Huovie) of Minneapolis, MN; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and girlfriend, Shawna Muldoon of Burnsville, MN.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leona and Leonard Lee and David Lund and Adele Kainz; uncle, James Lee; aunt, Mary Jo Lund; and cousins Connor Frank and Dustin Whittier.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel, with Jody Hagedorn officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Family and friends may leave condolences online at www.smithfuneralec.com.

You had just won the championship game... it's so hard to believe this is real. You introduced me to my favorite show KT and shared a love for Mythical Morning and the Wheel. You made beautiful bowls and you were kind enough to give my mom and I one, when you barely knew me. We spent hours in the rain talking on the boat tour, we were the only ones sitting with the lightening. Thank you for all the memories and conversations. Thank you for being there when I could use someone to talk to, I hope I returned the favor. You're on my mind. God bless you and your family. My condolences to everyone that knew you, we lost a good friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss, my friend. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. Please know I'm here for you, whatever you need.

I previously worked with Matt at AJ Manufacturing. We bonded over woodworking and talked motorcycles. I'll have to upgrade my exhaust like he always recommended because my motorcycle sounded like a "sewing machine". It was cool to hear about his experiences of being a goalie in his hockey leagues. He was very skilled at his job in the paint booth. I would help him prep, tape, and later peel tape. He was genuinely a good guy to be around and helped make the job much more bearable. He was one of the most intelligent guys I've ever worked around. His sarcasm would go over the heads of many others. I can't believe I'm hearing this news of his early passing. Rest easy Matt.
