Obituaries

Richard Walter Goodell, age 87, of Cedarville, Michigan, died at the Ball Hospice House in
Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on January 21, 2024. He was born on May 9, 1936, in Ecorse,
Michigan, to Oren Sr. and Bessie M. (Adleman) Goodell.

Richard grew up in Ecorse and graduated from Dearborn High School. He joined the National
Guard in the early 60’s and was honorably discharge. He began working at the National Steel
Mill as a foreman and retired in 1986. He moved to Cedarville, Michigan, to enjoy the rest of his
retirement.

Richard was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Les Cheneaux
Sportsman club in Cedarville.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting sports. He loved
spoiling and spending time with his grandsons, who were his entire life.

Richard is survived by his son, Scott (Kristi) Goodell of Pickford, Michigan; and grandson,
Jacob (Michaela) Goodell of Sault Ste. Marie.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Oren and Bessie; brothers, Ken, Eston, and Robert
“Bob”; sister, Ruth; and grandson, Joshua Goodell.
A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
