Robert Joseph DeMaria, born Rocco Amaroso DeMaria, died on March 20, 2024, at Hearthside Assisted Living in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, at the age of 97. He was born on January 12, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Salvatore and Genevieve (Amoroso) DeMaria.

Robert lived in his hometown of Detroit with his family until moving to Sault Ste. Marie in his seventies. He was strong in his catholic faith and love for the Lord. He had a caring soul and loved all animals. Over the years, he has cared for many dogs and cats. For the last three years, Hearthside Assisted Living has been his home.

Robert is survived by his nieces, Susan White of California, Frances Morof of Illinois, and Julia DeMaria of Wisconsin.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William DeMaria.

Per Robert’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
