Obituary For Robert William Malmborg
Robert “Bob” William Malmborg, age 85, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on April 4, 1939, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Charles and Olive (Eagle) Malmborg.
Bob grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault High School. He was raised on his grandpa Eagle’s farm on Riverside Drive, where he learned the art of hard work. Bob was in the United States National Guard and worked for the Corp of Engineers before meeting his wife, Marcia of fifty-eight years, in turn taking over her father’s construction company “Ellis Construction” and becoming a general contractor. Bob built countless homes around the area, with twenty-six of those homes in which they lived in. When Bob and Marcia retired from construction, they tried their hand in the restaurant business formerly known as the “Robin’s Nest.” There were many great times over the years with “Burger Bob” in the kitchen!
Bob was a hard worker and had a great sense of humor, enjoyed life and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved to hunt and fish, including his trips to Canada every year with the boys fishing, and watching the deer in the backyard. He enjoyed his sports and was Green Bay Packers fan.
Bob is survived by his son, Ron (Michelle) Malmborg of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Misty, Ryan, Ashlyn, and Dylan of Sault Ste. Marie; sister-in-law, Sherry and (Pat) McKee of Indiana; son-in-law, Troy Popour; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded by his wife, Marcia; daughters, Kellie and Carrie Malmborg; parents, Charles and Olive; brother, Ross (Lila) Malmborg.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. The Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 PM.
