Rosemarie C. Bentgen, a long-time resident of Saint Ignace, passed away Saturday, November 4th, peacefully surrounded by family. She was born on September 1st, 1929, in Detroit to the late Catherine “Babe” Calcaterra and Mario J. Calcaterra Sr.

Rosemarie received a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State College. She later went on to complete her Master’s Degree at Central Michigan University. Rosemarie worked as a teacher in the Saint Ignace area where she dedicated her career to education, leaving a lasting impact on so many lives.

Rosemarie had a love for art, traveling the world, singing, reading and cooking. Most of all, Rosemarie cherished her family and found joy in spending time with her loved ones. Rosemarie will be remembered for her spunky personality, beautiful singing voice, and her snazzy church hats. She truly was one of a kind.

Rosemarie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters Catherine (Mark) Sposito, Christina (Ted) Halladay, and one son Robert Bentgen. She also was an adored grandmother and leaves behind three granddaughters, Alexandria (Chas) Hubbard, Emily (Mike) McNeely and Molly (Chase) DeKeyser as well as 4 great-grandchildren.

Rosemarie will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. May her soul rest in peace.

In keeping with Rosemarie's wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Saint Ignace Public Library.
