Obituary For Thomas Carlisle Ellis
Thomas Carlisle Ellis, age 93, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died at his home, surrounded by family Saturday, September 28, 2024, on Drummond Island. He was born on June 25, 1931, on Drummond Island, to Ivan and Anna (Parrish) Ellis.
Carlisle was born and raised on Drummond Island. He enlisted into the United States Marines in 1950, served our country two years, before returning home to Drummond Island. Carlisle worked at the Drummond Island Quarry (Bethlehem Steele) for over thirty years, he built fireplaces and was a caretaker for many homes on the island. He retired from the Drummond Island Quarry in 1987, in his retirement he continued to excavate and build fireplaces elsewhere for an additional fifteen years.
Carlisle was a member of the Drummond Island Snowmobile Club.
Carlisle loved to keep busy and was a hard worker. He loved fishing and hunting.
Carlisle is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Jim) Tarr of Drummond Island; son, Thomas (Pamela) Ellis of Drummond Island; grandchildren, Thomas (Niki) Ellis, Andrew (Nicole) Ellis, Sarah (Kenn) Howard, Scott (Kezia) Ellis, Ellis (Melanie) Tarr, and Austin (Abby) Ellis; great-grandchildren, Deryk (Mary) Lazarz, Taylor (Nick) Lazarz, Trisha (Colin) Lazarz, Ivan Ellis, Tanner Howard, Kenzie Howard, D. J. Ellis; great-great grandson, Owen Lazarz, Griffin Shut; and many nieces and nephews.
Carlisle was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; parents, Thomas and Anna; sisters, Lorna (Merlin) Kelly, Ladorna (Paul) Staley, Aleen (Ed) Voss.
Memorial Gathering will be held on October 7, 2024 at the Lighthouse Church at 11:00 AM.
Carlisle’s final resting place will be at the Drummond Island Cemetery.
