Obituaries

Thomas J. Soeltner, age 82, of Rudyard, Michigan, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024, in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, after a short illness. Born September 11th, 1941, he was the son of Lawrence and Burnetta (Burton) Soeltner of Moran, Michigan.

On September 10th, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart Patsy McKenzie, spending 64 years together raising their family. Thomas was a man who was always busy. He enjoyed spending time in his garage and workshop, working on his projects and helping others when needed. During his life he worked as a welder, truck driver, and gas pipeline worker. During his retired years he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy; daughters, Kim (Dennis) DeLong of Kincheloe, Michigan, and Jeanny (Steve) Wilson of Kinross, Michigan; sons, Thomas (Jodi) of Pickford, Michigan, and Patrick of Munising, Michigan; along with ten beloved grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Orr of St Ignace, Michigan; brother in-law, Glen McKenzie of Carp River, Michigan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sisters, Joann Schmidt, and Jean Sheber; brother, Richard; and great granddaughter, Samara Pearce.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rudyard, Michigan. A luncheon celebrating Thomas’ life will be held after mass at the Rudyard Township Hall.
