Obituary For Thomas Mason Clement

Thomas Mason Clement, age 99, of Sugar Island, Michigan, died on July 13, 2024, at his granddaughter’s home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on July 28, 1924, in Blissfield, Michigan to Victor and Myrtle (Mason) Clement.

In January of 1944, he married Rosabell Jean, and she preceded him in death in 2004. In June of 2006, Thomas married Marlene Johnson. In 1945, Tom entered the United States Military service, joining the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment and served in Germany until the end of World War II. Tom worked for 32 years delivering petroleum products to his many friends and customers. Upon retiring, Tom and his wife, Jean, moved to Houghton Lake, Michigan, where they spent 18 years enjoying the luxuries of nature.

Tom was an extremely active member in the First United Brethren Church of Blissfield, Michigan. He was a longtime charter member of the Blissfield Kiwanis Club, the Blissfield Sportsman’s Club, and the Blissfield Christian Businesses Committee and went on to serve on the board of the Toledo Rescue Mission for over twenty years. Tom served in the Houghton Lake Bible Church for 18 years. After his wife of 59 years, Jean, was taken home to be with the Lord, he served in the First Baptist Church of Arizona City, where he assisted in the construction of the current sanctuary along with his son, Bob Clement, and his second wife Marlene Clement.

Tom is survived by his wife, Marlene Clement; son, Robert (Linda) Clement; daughter, Patricia Newhouse; youngest son, Keith (John) Clement; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosabell Jean; sisters, Susan Clement and Marge Pinkleman; and brother, Richard Clement.

A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church (555 Bingham Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783) on July 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM.

Family Life Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
