Virginia Catherine (Pevarnic) Neal, age 95, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died at the White Willes Assisted Living in Rudyard, Michigan, on March 2, 2024. She was born on May 10, 1928, in Muskegon, Michigan, to John and Catherine (Samar) Pevarnic.

Virginia moved to Sault Ste. Marie at the age of three years old and graduated from Sault High School. While in high school, she waitressed at a restaurant before working at the Chippewa County Health Department as a receptionist. She met Robert Ernest Neal, and they married in 1947. They built the Robin’s Nest Restaurant and ran it for more than thirty years. They sold the restaurant locally and she retired to take care of Robert.

Virginia was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sault Ste. Marie and was a Blue Liner for the Lake Superior State University’s Lakers Hockey Team.

Virginia was an avid animal lover and took care of many animals over the years. She also enjoyed sewing, planting flowers, and crafts.

Virginia is survived by her niece, Carey Pribil of Edmond, Oklahoma; and neighbor, friend and caregiver, Lowell Davis.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, John, and Catherine; sister, Mary Ann; brother, Anthony (Audry) Pevarnic; and nephews, Steven, and Mark Pevarnic.

A Graveside Service will be held in June 2024.

Final Resting Place will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
